Hotel in Nara
The Nara Visitor Center and Inn is located in the heart of Nara, just a 3-minute walk from Kofuku-ji Temple and Naramachi. This place is amazing. The staff really put in so much effort to be helpful and answer any questions. There is a common area downstairs near check-in where they will have calligraphy and origami going on for free. The staff, and Jay in particular spent lots of time just hanging out with us, talking, and helping us work through the origami. They will write your name in Kanji for free, and it looks really nice. The rooms are large and clean, and many of them have views towards the pagoda. The location is super close to the park and all of the main attraction within it. There are lots of great food options nearby including cafes and breakfast spots. This place is an absolute gem, especially with how reasonable the pricing is for the rooms here and everything you get that comes with it. We overall had a much more memorable experience in Nara than we were expecting and it was in large part due to stay at this Inn and Visitor Center. Stay here if you can!

Hotel in Dorogawa Onsen, Tenkawa
Ichimaru Ryokan - Vacation STAY 35990v is located in Tenkawa, in the Dorogawa Onsen district. Every room is equipped with a shared bathroom with a shower, free toiletries and a hairdryer. I had expected the place to be a hotel and only realised after arriving that it was a traditional Japanese inn. The hosts were fantastic. Communication was with translation by iPhone but everything was clear. The inn is traditional so be prepared for the futon bed and the shared bathroom and washing facilities. But it's also small so we did not need to queue or wait. We were also provided with traditional dress which we wore to the craft beer bar close by. The hosts were wonderful. Everything from arranging a taxi to advice on what we needed for the hot spring bath in the village. The breakfast and dinner (it's an inn so both are included even though breakfast is mentioned only) were amazing. It was at a level I would expect in an expensive restaurant here but felt like you were in a home and not a hotel. The area is great for hiking and the village is just super nice. Great ice-cream place nearby also. All in all it was the best weekend break I have ever had and I have loads of memories - my advice is to go there and just immerse yourself without expectations. Again the hosts were amazing

Beautiful place. Shigi-san is a mountain full of temples and hiking routes with great views of Nara. You can travel there by bus from Oji station and save money instead of taking a taxi. If you are not into 'buddism and shukubo', one night at a hotel or a temple is just fine.
Piazza Hotel Nara is probably one of the most impeccable hotels that's situated right at JR Nara station. It is a convenient starting point for exploring the shopping streets which lead up to Nara Park. The hotel has comprehensive facilities and amenities available to guests, including lovely buffet menus, and room was spacious and comfortable. Staff was earnest in understanding and communicating in English with English-speaking guests and provided excellent service. Definitely my top choice of accommodation in Nara.
Nara
The location was great because it is located in a shopping district with great access to food and other stores for buying souvenirs. It is also a short 5 min walk to the outskirts of Nara Park and some local museums. The breakfast tastes AMAZING with great service. They ask you when you want your breakfast and you show up with everything already prepared for you. Since its a ryokan, everything is very traditional so the service, the facilities, and everything else gives you a great experience of the Japanese culture
Location was ideal: adjacent to the JR Nara station, yet isolated from the hustle bustle. A well-appointed grocery store was nearby as was a Starbucks located in a historic building. Hotel was similar to other 3-Star accommodations in Japan; compact yet full of modern amenities. Property was recently rebranded as a Spa, yet I didn’t take advantage of low-cost public bathing facility. Having a separate laundromat with microwave and beverage machine were added bonuses. Room had a work desk. WiFi was robust.
Nara
One of the best place we stay at. The services provided by the hotel, and the very nice hotel staff were top notch. The in room private onsen, and the public one was excellent. We stayed in a Japanese style room, love all the detail of the corridor and the style. We especially enjoy the half board meals provided. I recommend anyone stay there to get it. I’ll definitely come back again if I’m visiting Nara again. Hotel is located very close to the train station and buses are easy walk to.
The staff at Nara Hotel offers a level of service that has disappeared from most more modern hotels. As we were climbing the hill pulling our bags behind us, one of the support personnel saw us and immediately came to our assistance. Inside another helper took charge of taking our luggage to our room. We felt pampered and relieved. The same sort of attention was offered enthusiastically by the dining room servers. The front desk personnel also went out of their way to help us.
Great economical hotel. Booked last minute. Recommend the buffet breakfast which had both western and Japanese offerings. Hotel is located across from the JR Nara station which was great for access. 7-Eleven is just down the street, and restaurants nearby. Nara has a lot to see and do. Being right off the train, this could be a good choice for those looking for a hub to make day trips from. Washers and dryers are available for a small fee in the hotel (400¥).
Nara
It's a charming old house which is well-maintained and really makes you feel you are in Japan...even to a courtyard garden. The location was easy to get to either by walking from the station (15 minutes) or by bus (5 minutes), but was in a quiet and traditional part of Nara that turned out to be part of the pleasure (since, unlike most of Kyoto, Nara had retained its charm in the last half-century). We wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
This is a very excellent Hotel, with the most convenient location of any hotel that I have experienced in Japan, just one short block from the Jr Nara train station. From the train station, buses can take you anywhere that you would want to go in the Nara area, and to me, the Nora area is the best and most important sightseeing in Japan. The breakfast is excellent, as are the rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Nara
This is a lovely quiet hotel just outside Nara. The facilities are a little dated and could use an upgrade. Nevertheless this is a wonderful little find. The Onsen is quiet and easily accessible. The room was huge, bed super comfortable and the restaurant on site was amazing!! Love that they supply kimonos for dressing for traditional dinner. Breakfast is a good mix of western diet and Japanese breakfast foods.
Everything! Hotel is right outside of the Nara Station, very close to the bus stops and tourists information center. There are a lot of restaurants nearby. Nara Park is 20 minutes by walk along the main shopping street. Very very convenient! Hotel has a nice natural hot spring and offers unlimited free drinks of Japanese sake, wine, beer, tea and coffee, unbelievable. Room is big, ckean and comfortable.
Nara
Hotel with a traditional style located a short walk from Kintetsu-Nara station. Good sized room and very friendly, helpful and attentive staff who made our stay a pleasure. We had booked with breakfast included and would highly recommend the traditional Japanese option. Staff were readily acommodating of our request to have dinner in our room the following evening even though we had not pre-booked this.
Nara
If you are staying in Nara, this Hostel is a MUST! The staff are so amazing and kind! The owner personally sat down with me, gave me a map, and told me which places in Nara to visit, and it was a perfect tour of Nara! The location is close to the main street, so there’s lots to do! The rooms were big and the beds were cozy! Everything was very clean! This is the BEST hostel I’ve ever stayed in!
Nara
Nicest, helpful staff, who give you the best advice in very good English and CARE:). Great location (walking distance from both stations and easy to find), friendly amenities - clean shared facilities + possibility to have tea or coffee, lots of books to go through if you have a spare minute. When we go back to Nara we definitely stay at Yuzan. And it was the biggest room we had in Japan:).
This has been my favorite stay so far in Japan! I am a solo traveler so I have gotten used to small spaces and crammed hotels, but Henn na Hotel Nara amazed my expectations :) The room layout was lovely and the hotel overall was very clean and spacious. The walls are thick so I wasn’t able to hear anyone around me or in the halls. It is also a less than 5 minute walk from the station.
This property is a gem! My family and I were visiting from San Diego and one of our stops was in Nara. Kyokosan made us feel at home with the breakfast, treats and hospitality she provided. It is also hard to find accommodations in Japan that are the size of western homes but this one is very spacious. I only wished we would have spent more time to be able to enjoy the home more.
Hotel Pagoda is right next to Nara Park, so getting an early start before the crazy crowds arrive or visiting a more peaceful park after they leave will greatly enhance your experience. The room is basic, but just got a recent refresh and remodel, so that makes it a great bargain for the price. It has a ridiculously huge bathtub and bathing room and includes bath salts.
Great spot to stay in Nara. Hotel was clean, room was fairly standard sizing for the Japanese hotels. Location was great, near to lots of good places to eat and withing walking distance to the Kintetsu railway line as well as the nature park and temples. We really enjoyed our stay in Nara, and can recommend the APA hotel as a great place to stay while you visit.
Nara
The host is extremely kind and very helpful. He helped us plan our visits in Nara and told us about special events happening in the city. He also explained the history of the house. The room looks exactly like the pictures and is spotless. I would definitely recommend this place for everyone who wishes to experience a traditional Japanese stay.
Nara
Such a gorgeous hotel! Our room was lovely, we had our own private hot onsen on the balcony and it was nice to sleep in traditional Japanese beds. The hotel’s onsen is perfect for relaxing after a long day of sight seeing, and the staff are very sweet and helpful. It’s in a great location, within walking distance from of landmarks in Nara.
Overall a great experience and a highlight of our trip - amazing host, excellent dinner and breakfast (make sure to order these when staying here!), very cozy Japanese-style rooms. Good location, too - very peaceful neighborhood, but still close to all the sights. We'll be sure to stay here again next time we're in Nara!
