Desk and plenty of space for luggage. The room also had a separate sitting area (I didn’t use it) bathroom and toilet in their own rooms as well.

Really good communication before and upon arrival. Jenny was so friendly and helpful. We loved sitting in the communal area and that we could make our own food as we are veggies. The location is perfect, right in the middle of the town.

Staff were so friendly and helpful, really helped make the stay special. Lady who waited at table for dinner was delightful and taught the proper way to eat the keiseki meal, which was the best we've enjoyed in Japan. Guy at front desk even came out to help load our luggage onto bus. Room was spacious and well equipped. Free juke box in the cafe!

The breakfast was the most memorable experience during my stay in Japan this trip (2.5 weeks) I wasn't even sure you could get a kaiseki breakfast, but it sure felt like it. The quality of the food was next level and was accompanied by a serene and tranquil garden setting looking toward the lake. I have travelled to Japan 9 times and I was gobsmacked by this breakfast experience.

Nice place to hike. Plenty of greenery even in December. Not so pleasant if it rains. Hiking nearer the ridge may not be suitable to those who are not so fit as it can get quite steep. Using the ropeway could ease the trip a bit for those who have some health challenges.

The private onsen in the room was heavenly and we took advantage of it sometimes multiple times a day. It was also nice to be able to walk down in our Japanese PJ's to relaxingly eat and gaze out the window on Unzen Jigoku. The service was very attentive. My room included a washroom and for the bathroom we used the shared public onsen. The onsen is excellent which is clean and spacious. There are few rooms of onsen (both indoor and open air), so we can choose trying different ones. In overall the stay is really reasonably priced. I would recommend it if you are going to stay in Unzen.
