Absolute nightmare. When we arrived, they didn’t have our booking. You need to climb up the stairs to the 2nd floor to “check in” and no one is helping. Staff barely speaks any English and they are the most unhelpful people I’ve met working in hospitality. There’s an entire construction site next to the property- be prepared for all day noise and dust. There was a drunk person trying to enter our room at 3am - informed the property manager and I’m yet to get a response a week later. Oh, and the WiFi doesn’t work and also there’s no reception whatsoever. AVOID!!!!!

We enjoyed our stay a lot especially because of the hosts. Matt, Jenny and Pier were really nice and super helpful to book events and support us through it all. We really felt like we were part of the family. Other residents were also nice and everyone vibed nicely. We miss Babalao and the thrill of getting into the room with new bed designs everytime 😅 The staff also did a beautiful job supporting my fiancé to surprise me on my birthday morning 🥰🥰

The receptionists extremely good and very helpful
The receptionists extremely good and very helpful
If you enjoy more of a tourist and party atmosphere this is probably the place for you
I personally prefer the more relaxed atmosphere where the staff are not so ‘on top’ of you
I booked 2 suits unfortunately one was on top of the bar and kitchen so it was quite noisy until midnight
The second suit was bottom floor access to the beach but the beach beds were full of clothes just dumped there
When I mentioned it I was told that it was ok
Not really very good for 2 suits for 500€ a day
Needless to say the next day we changed hotels to a more relaxed one more to my liking
Not to say that the hotel was bad just not for me

Paje is more chill and relaxing than in the north.
Paje is more chill and relaxing than in the north. Best place for kite surfing. The tide can influence the possibility of swimming therefore if you want beach/sun/swimming you better choose north, Kendwa.

Pajde is a small village, BUT you can find everything there.
Pajde is a small village, BUT you can find everything there. ATM, bars, beach kitesurf mostly. If you want to party all night then it might not be your place. If you love watersports and laid-back people then you are in the right spot. Visited Nungwi, but preferred Paje.

On our first day in Paje, the winds were quite strong, making it less suitable for leisure. Most of the local activities centered around kite surfing. So, if you're hoping for calm beachside strolls, Nungwi in the north is a better choice. Additionally, the tidal patterns here differ from what we're used to in the Northern Hemisphere. The tide comes in during the day and recedes in the evening. We once found ourselves stranded on the beach due to the swift rise in tide. It's something to be mindful of if visiting.
Very nice hotel right on the beach with a wonderful infinity pool. It has a nice terrace just in front of the beach where the bar and restaurant are. The food and the beverages are also good. Very kind staff that goes extra miles to make your stay perfect and also the owners are very friendly and helpful. The court is amazing with a lot of palm trees and traditional bungalows. The room is not that fancy but is all you need for a stay in Zanzibar. I can't recommend it enough.
What an awesome place, you sleep 50m away from the ocean!
Best hostel option on East Coast.
Your Zanzibar Place offers great location, ambiance and friendly staff for a price which is unparalleled in otherwise expensive Paje.
Super cozy bar and restaurant area where you can have a drink or delicious food and meet a lot of travelers from all around the world.
Owners Matt and Jo will go extra mile to make your stay perfect .
This is the most fantastic hotel of Paje!!! Its look is so exotic and luxury, the room is very beautiful, clean and big, the terrace were big, the ocean view was amazing. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The Paje beach is the most beauiful beach in Zanzibar. The hotel had a private sun terrace. It has a big pool, which was always clean and has a special lighting, glass-walled pool.
Best hotel we stayed in Zanzibar. Nice big rooms, very clean, good aircon, kettle in the room, nice view, good breakfast. After Paje we went to Kendwa but we wanted to come back as all it was much better in Paje and frendlier people. With the sea the tide was not so terrible, so we could swim in the Ocean every day. Hotel has also reasonble prices of food and alcoholic drinks.
Outstanding personnel and Really Nice Hotel.
Rooms are really spacious. Location wise - have in mind that you are on 5 min walking distance (where locals houses are) from the beach.
Hotelwise - little too expensive for Zanzibar, but staff is Amazing.
All of them are super responsive and will take care of your smallest requests! Cudos guys!

Thank You all for my best stay in Zanzibar.
Location was perfect for me as it is quite close to the beach also next to the 7/24 supermarket which is not so usual in zanzibar. Everyday rooms are being cleaned. Ventilation and hot water works perfectly which is also not so usual in zanzibar. I had to chance with a lot of people! I will def come and stay next time
We loved the location, it is directly on the beach and in the lively village of Paje. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast is really good. Rooms are cleaned everyday, also fresh water and towels are also provided daily if you want. staff is very friendly and helpful. Great place to stay in Zanzibar!
The Hotel has a very good location, and beautiful Garden, the moment you enter the Hotel you feel yourself in a different zone in Zanzibar! They serve a daily breakfast with different options, their team attendance was supper friendly and professional all the time.
the staff was so sweet and accommodating. everything we needed, they gave. The location was amazing. very calm and quiet and the water was beautiful. We felt safe and secure. the wifi was great for Zanzibar. The breakfast was so good and the rooms were unique.
Paje's great feature is its location on the beach. The rooms are nice enough, not fancy. (But then, who comes here to hang in a hotel room?) There are a couple of more expensive and luxurious hotels very close by, but we have no regrets for staying here.
I stayed here for 1 night, everything was amazing. The staff was friendly, food was incredible and the location was a few steps from the beach! If you are in Paje Zanzibar I really recommend staying here at your Zanzibar place. 10 out of 10!!
