The hotel is a short walk from the station. The staff were very helpful and used their phones to translate information for us when required. They called a restaurant on our behalf to investigate options for our dietary requirements. Our rooms were a good size for two adults. PJs are provided. Additional toiletries are available in the lobby. There is a coin laundry just around the corner. They stored our luggage for us while we travelled to another town for an overnight stay.

A convenient stay for a transit visit in Gifu, with plentiful parking places for travellers. The rooms were comfortable and well-ventilated (air conditioning and heating), and there was an excellent buffet breakfast served from 6.30-9am. Would highly consider returning to Hotel Route-Inn and the other hotels in this chain around Japan!

Twin room was a bit shabby but decent size (for a business hotel) and had all the necessary amenities. Staff were friendly.

The whole hotel is really nice and sophisticated. The rooms big and nice with a nice view of the river (sunset was amazing from the room). The spa area, gym and sauna were perfect after a long day

Gifu is a city that's nestled in the valleys of surrounding mountains. It gets very cold and windy in the winter and excrutiatingly hot in the summer. There are many hiking trails accessible from this city.
Make sure to plan your trip to hit the right temperatures. You can use this place as a base to drive out to nearby locations such as Monet's pond, Seki city or Nagoya city. It is also about 2 hours drive from Lake Biwa if you use the toll roads.
Public transport might not be that convenient, recommended to rent a car for this place.

Gifu now is a rather quiet city as most of the Japanese have moved out to bigger cities like Nagoya and Tokyo. The shopping walk at Yanagase had only a few shops open for business. The plus factor is that there is a Takashimaya shopping building where you can do some proper shopping there, but the things are on the pricey side.
However on the JR station side , there are alot of eateries and supermarkets where you can eat and buy foodstuff . Prices are much cheaper there for sashimi if you are into it.
Gifu is only good for the river commorant fishing town , so you have to travel outskirts to Nagano river to enjoy nature and river walk. The castle is only an external shell of a modernised interior , not much to see like the other castles in japan.

I went to Gujo Hachiman and the place is one of the most beautiful I've seen in Japan. I joined Gujo Odori, which is all night dancing held from August 13-15 this year, and it was a magical experience. The dancing started at around 7pm and didn't stop until 5am.
This is our first time trying the Love hotel. When we arrived, there was no one to help us check in, fortunately, we were assisted by the staff. I would say this is the best value for money hotel, The room has everything, from karaoke, a massage chair, a sauna, to a jacuzzi bathtub. The only thing we don't quite understand is that once you are in your room, you can't open the door from inside the room, you need to call the front desk to unlock the door. Breakfast was delivered to our room without disturbing us and it was good.
The hosts are incredibly nice and helpful. We were going on a rafting trip on our check-out date and they woke up at 5 am to drive us to the station so we can make it on time for the rafting trip. The place was very clean, and it exceeded our expectations 😍. We wanted to stay longer there because of how nice the hosts were and how great the place was. It was definitely a better choice than a hotel I think 😍!
The location of the hotel was ideal for travelling around the prefecture and local sites with easy access to the JR and Meitetsu train lines. The room was basic but comfortable and the breakfast was the same. Simple cereal, sausages, egg, bread, rice, yoghurt, etc. A convenience store was right outside the hotel for quick food, drink or whatever else was requried.
The breakfast spread is very good for the price. The breakfast room is also roomy compared to other business hotels.
The cost of accommodation is very cheap considering the location.
JR line users have to walk 10-11 minutes from the station but the hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the Meitetsu Gifu station.
The host is the sweetest person!! she picked me up from the bus station and took me directly to the Gifu castle where she helped me get my ticket. That same day she organized a secret tour which was very very fun.
In the morning she will cook breakfast for you which was delicious!!
We stayed here for Gifu halfmarathon and it was just perfect. The host is great. He even offered us an after-marathon shower. The location is best, in walking distance to the halfmarathon starting line.
And the tatami room is beautiful. Would definitely stay again!
We didn't eat the hotel breakfast due to allergies. However, there is a convenience store right off the entry of the hotel. Also, McD's is just a few doors down. We stayed a few nights and appreciated the convenient parking and the easy access to the station(s).
We stayed in a suite room, 607, which had a separate sitting area and 2 toilets. This is a large, high-end hotel with quality facilities. We chose this hotel because it is only about a 20 minute walk to the dock where the boats to view ukai (cormorant fishing).
It was overall a wonderful weekend and a wonderful stay and experience in your super clean hotel. The Onsen were amazing and your rooms even made us stay the whole afternoon inside because we just felt like home. Thank you! Our stay was exceptionally great!
Hotel staff was very friendly to foreigners. It was my first time staying there, and I didn't know how to use their services. They helped me figure out everything I needed. Such as the television and phone operation.
Such a beautiful part of the world. The view from the rooms was superb. The staff were very kind. The breakfast service was delicious. Having an onsen in the hotel was a huge bonus, and it was well maintained.
The view is absolutely magnificent. We had a clear view of both the Gifu castle as well as the Nagara river. We spent majority of our time sitting in front of our window and enjoying the
view.
Nice experience in a high-end traditional Japanese hotel. We were the only western tourists. Very nice onsen with amazing "muddy bath". Delicious meals, very good buffet breakfast.
The hotel is near the station. We had also a nice view and good breakfast.
The name of the hotel speaks for itself, “comfort”.
Affordable price with an excellent stay.
