Traditional food and service. Spotless fresh linen with elegant matching crockery and cutlery. Breakfast freshly cooked. Dinner very traditional and not exactly gourmet standard but very reasonably priced.
The room was in the "new" wing of the hotel. Very large, quiet, comfortable and very well furnished.
The hotel is family run and they really care !
Rivendell is a striking Arts and Crafts mansion, set just 15 minutes' walk from the town centre of Dumfries and its railway station. It features rooms with antique furnishings and free WiFi.

We were only there for one night, but we’re recommended the Globe for a meal, and it didn’t disappoint, on the way we dropped in at the Annan distillery well worth the £25 tour and the driver gets his or her tasting pack to take away with them.

Dumfries is a lovely town ,plenty of park facilities to occupy children . Lots to see and do all around ; mountain biking in the forests ( recommend Ae forest with bike hire and cafe) Lots of local history from gunpowder to Robert Burns . Drumlanrig castle near Thornhill well worth a visit . The surrounding hills are beautiful ( get up into the local hills and villages) Nature reserves around the Solway estuary .Easily spend one to two weeks in a 15 mile radius of Dumfries

Beautiful place with a breathtaking view. Very pretty garden. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very spacious, comfortable furniture everything super clean and brand new. Jan and Colin are the nicest people on earth rescuing us from the back of beyond with two flat tires. I want to come again and stay much longer.

We called in to a few pubs and the locals were all very friendly and chatty even to us English ha ha. The town was clean and we had a nice walk across the river along a park then back again. There was plenty of places to have a drink. We only went for the football at Queen of the South and I would go there again given the chance.

I visited with my young grandchildren to attend the Wigtonshire Book Festival which was a great success, as was the accommodation.
However on the Sunday evening, after the Book Festival, There was nowhere suitable available in Dumfries to take three children for an evening meal before travelling home to Stirling. Quite disappointing.

I was only there for 2 days, for a Watercolour workshop, so unfortunately didn’t have much time for sightseeing, but it seems a very historic and interesting town
Ate in the Bistro restaurant at Crichton
Stayed as part of our NC500 tour. Nicely decorated hotel set in a Scotland Forestry country park with miles of trails to walk and bike. Good reception. All members of staff friendly towards us and our dog. Unable to eat with the dog in the restaurant as expected but they set up a lovely table in the pleasant lounge. Quiet area but not too far from Dumfries and convenient for the journey south (or North toward Glasgow and Loch Lomond). Room comfortable. Decent electric shower. Would be the choice to stay again if in the area.
Arrived and had to go to adjoining hotel for keys. This hotel is defo for workers and homeless people. The room smelled of feet or smelly socks. Shower had mould all round with ceiling paint peeling off. Tv didn’t work wired hanging out at the back. No batteries for the remote. Management should be visited by health and safety along with hygiene dept of the Dumfries council. Don’t know how they are getting away with telling lies and providing a disgraceful service to the paying guests
Great accommodation, had everything we needed. Very modern and great location, easy walk to town centre and lovely riverside walks . Perfect base for exploring along the Dumfries and Galloway coast with lots of lovely places to go and was so nice to come back after a day out and be able to relax in the Stables outside space which was great with a table and 6 chairs as well as 2 comfy reclining loungers
Would highly recommend as we thoroughly enjoyed our time here
Feels more like a luxury boutique hotel than a guest house. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The room had everything one could ask for and it was very cosy. The breakfast was delicious and there was a wide selection of different food options. The place is located close to the railway station and a walk to the town centre will only take about 5 minutes. I'll happily rebook it if I ever visit Dumfries again.
Arrived after having been at work earlier that day, followed by longish train journey from Manchester, so great to get off the train at Dumfries, cross a road and arrive at hotel in less than a minute. Easy to check in and out. Room in good location within hotel. Comfortable room, provision of tea/coffee, plenty of sockets to charge phone. Good quality shower and bathroom.
We had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend this hotel. The owners go above and beyond to welcome you and make you feel at home. The rooms are well appointed and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is one of the highlights. We look forward to returning for more than one night next time.
Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Hotel grounds were very nice with outside seating
Appreciated 24 hour reception and air con.
Have had poor breakfasts at Holiday Inns pre-covid and wasn't expecting much but the breakfast buffet was better than expected - similar to a Premier Inn buffet.
Comfortable bedroom with kitchen facilities if you need them. Warm welcome from proprietor who made sure we were happy during our stay Lovely peaceful location with beautiful views yet only three miles from centre of Dumfries.
Located in the heart of Dumfries, the host was very organized and access to the room was easy. Our stay was short so we didn’t have time for breakfast, but the room had lovely flowers and we were very comfortable there.
The Huntingdon is a high quality, small hotel, adjacent to the station and short walk to Dumfries centre. The hotel decor is excellent and the rooms clean and comfortable. The breakfast is made fresh, with local produce
Great location for an overnight stay in Dumfries, a short walk to the town centre. The room was very clean and modern, great clean decor and modern shower room and toilet. Ample tea and coffee making facilities
Lovely guest house and very friendly staff! Good location, very walkable to anything in and around the Dumfries town center. Breakfast was good. Rooms warm, a nice respite from the frost outside!
The hotel's location is good, close to the town centre and bars, but in a quiet road. Parking is good, and the welcome is very warm. The breakfast was good.
