Room is clean and laundry equipment is also almost free to use(you can buy the laundry detergent at front desk for 50yen). recommended to budget limited travellers!

Nice location next to some beautiful areas to walk around, and just a couple of bus stops away from the main station. The room is simple but has everything you might need, and there's a microwave, plates and glasses available to use just a couple of steps away.

My wife wants to see the penguins, so we went there. Then she want to see the winter festival, so we went there.
Well, I just want to get to where it is cold enough to practice my bioenergy methods. so I am okay with those plans. Other than that, there really isn't much to see in Asahikawa.

One of the good things about Asahikawa is that it is a good base for exploring the northern parts of Hokkaido. In our case it provided access to Asahidake, the flower farms of Biei and Furano. Though we didn't have much time to enjoy the autumn colors of the rest of Daisetsuzan National park, Asahikawa provided us a good take-off point as we headed to Wakkanai.

Asahidake Ropeway and Zoo were really great!
Asahidake Ropeway and Zoo were really great! I wish that I had more time at the zoo. The zoo layout is really good, we can get up close to the animals. We were there in mid Jun, perhaps due to the cool temperature, the animals were very active. We also gotten great shopping deals are Aeon Mall.

I mostly just used Asahikawa as a base to explore Daisetsuzan. I could have easily stayed for longer doing this even without poking around the city much. In general it was much cheaper to get a hotel/ryokan in Asahikawa and rent a car than to get lodging at the more expensive onsen resorts right in Daisetsuzan. I don't regret this decision at all. Nightlife was surprisingly active even on weekdays despite the fairly limited number of venues.

A nice town to visit and stay for a few days.
A nice town to visit and stay for a few days. In my opinion, it was
a perfect location for day trips to Biei and Furano. I would recommend
this town to may friends.....City was clean, people very friendly. We
felt safe staying in Asahikawa. I went walking at 4:30am on the
paved path along the river next to JR Asahikawa station. Its beautiful
and well manicured. I enjoyed taking photos of the beautiful flower
garden close to the hospital.

Enjoyable northern city, great as a base only 1.5 hours from Sapporo by frequent fast train.. .easy bus access to hiking mountain range Daisetsuzan. Train to Kamikawa and bus to Sounkyo for Mt Kurodake, stunning alpine flowers in summer. Onsen at Sounkyo and accommodation. Bus to Obihiro..train on to Kushiro with wonderful Wetlands and Red Crowned cranes.
Trains run to Ueno Farm English Garden, 15 min to Sakuraokoa Station and nice walk from end May..Best in summer months, recommend. Furano line for Biei, KamiFurano for Goto Sumio art museum highly recommended. Furano for flowers, Lavender Farm St gets busy in season. Train, or drive to Wakkanai for Sarobetsu National Park flowers in summer, hike on Rishiri and Rebun islands , access by ferry. Train, drive onto Abashiri for Shiretoko.
Asahikawa has nice parks for strolling at sakura season in May. Good Ainu culture museums. Station provides all amenities..tourist information centre and good Mothers kitchen food, shopping, average food court and good supermarket. Try traditional cafés Furukoshi and Whiz along main street from station towards Tokiwa Park..friendly helpful places serving nice food and drink.
Hokkaido is a very large island with fantastic natural landscapes..a very long winter but skiing good.
For the price, we were able to maximize our utility with this place - clean spaces, smart facilities, and hospitable staff. Japanese breakfast only and the same each morning but they were really good and healthy. Within 5-min walking distance to Asahikawa train station, bus stops to Asahikawa Airport and Asahiyama Zoo, and countless restaurants and shops. Has coin laundry, with washer and dryer combo, but jeans and cotton clothing can't be dried thoroughly. Will definitely stay here again if we'd ever be in Asahikawa next time.
I had such an amazing stay at Mimatsuso Ryokan! The ryokan was spotless and well located, and it was so nice to stay in a traditional Japanese house, with a traditional bathroom (with a bath to relax in), a yukata to put on after showering, and a delicious Japanese breakfast! (There are also signs in the ryokan saying that you can try on a kimono for free). The staff were extremely welcoming and made me feel at home. I’m sad I was only here one night but I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m back in Asahikawa!
Location was great, just opposite train station and mall. Breakfast was great. This seems to be a business hotel, so the female onsen is usually empty. So the coin laundry machines in the female onsen is usually available. Rooms were a good size. Parking was efficient. Staff at car park were very helpful. I thought I might have dropped my glove and was checking with the staff, who patiently helped. As I can't speak Japanese, she took out a translator and used it to resolve the issue.
The hotel is next to the station and directly in front of bus terminal. It has the major shopping mall with food court downstairs and restaurants on the 4 th floor across the bus terminal ( less than 5 minutes walk. )
The hotel is extremely clean and the breakfast is varied and tasty. Rooms are very comfortable.
We stay here every time we visit Asahikawa and will keep returning.
The location of the hotel was fantastic being a short walk from the train station and airport/ snow shuttle bus service. The shopping centre has everything you need and again was central to the hotel and rail location. I could not fault any aspect of our stay. The spa/ onsen area was beautiful and the view at night over looking the skating rink was bautiful.
The size of the room was good but it was quite dated with only a small window. The breakfast buffet is good but it can get a bit crowded in the restaurant with some waiting time. Parking directly at the hotel is only for small cars. The have options in several parking lots around the hotel for bigger cars but it's a short walk.
The onsen was great! It was a little small, but it was very clean and cozy. The location was very nice, too. It was very well within walking distance from Asahikawa Station.
I also accidentally booked a smoking room even though I don't smoke, but it didn't smell like a smoking room at all. It was pretty comfortable overall!
The breakfast was good. The room was comfortable. Overall, the hotel was good. It just didn't live up to what I expected from a Hoshino Resort hotel. It was always crowded. The lady running the car drop-off was rude. It was just a standard hotel with a few extra zoo decorations. So, I felt like I overpaid.
The most value-for-money stay among our 8-day driving trip in Hokkaido. The breakfast on the top floor is wonderful. The nearby location is great, close to a lovely shopping street where there are nice restaurants, bars, Izakayas, cafes. We had a wonderful stroll in the rain around that area.
What excellent value! The room was immaculately clean and large with private bathroom, comfortable beds, nice hotel owners, convenient location, free parking, and a super delicious cafe underneath where I had very tasty breakfast (omu-curry and iced coffee set for just 800 yen!).
brand new excellent hotel with impeccable facilities and very helpfull staff - best location right above the train station and shopping mall - room and bathroom size larger than expected - great onsen
